1991 Accord EX Wagon 6 speed tranny ???
I've got a '91 Accord EX Wagon with a 5 speed manual transmission and the 2.2 liter with no ABS. In fifth gear at 80 mph I'm running at about 3,500 rpm. That's a lot of spinning! It stays cool enough and the power's great but my mileage is literally better in the city (average: 26 mpg city) than when we drove it to Kentucky (average 23 mpg at 75 mph *yeah, it was that bad*). Is it possible to put a 6 speed in one of these? Would that drop the revs down significantly enough to be worth it? What might something like that cost for parts? I tried to check the other forums but couldn't find anything, redirect me if this is an old question, or, if you know of anything, let me know. Thanks!!

RE: 1991 Accord EX Wagon 6 speed tranny ???
welcome to the forum. I don't know off hand of any 6 sp older wagons, but suggest calling import speed shops, or tranny shops that do mod's to import transmissions to see if they might be able to help. Most import transmissions are so tight they cannot add another gear into it. But may be able to mod a newer 6 sp to fit into your wagon.
