Default Engine removal and install?

I have a 99 Honda accord 3.0 v6 vtec. I'm going to switch out the engine and replace with the same size. I have read some conflicting stories of how to do the removal and install. So my question is can i take the engine out from the top, or take it from bottom with trans connected? Dropping the subframe and ect seem a little much.

From what i have seen others do, they drop the motor from the bottom, but in the end it is all up to you.
i think with droping the complete assembly from the bottom you dont have to have that 3rd bend in your arm to get to that 1 bolt.

Dang ok. I've never took down a subframe, guess it will be another learning lesson. seen how the axles were changed in the past. Would you have any info on exactly what needs to come off the bottom to get it out. Or do you think one of them repair books from like AutoZone would have info.

:\ I just open a repair book and it tells ya step by step on how to remove from the top side, but when I'm in the scrap yards we remove from the bottom side. That is on other fwd cars that I've remove motors from, I have not pulled a Honda motor yet..........give me time, mine is in need of refreshing.
Most of the time you disconnect the basics and take 4 to 6 main bolts out from the bottom side of the cross member that hold every thing up. Then lower it to the ground and finish disconnecting from the cross member and done.
So I don't know if I have help yea or leaded you in a full circle.

lol, naw you didn't leaded me in a full circle, just wish it was as easy as the rear wheel drive cars used to be. You could pull engine from top with out all the extras. Talk about a mine refreshing, last time i helped pull an engine (from top) was 30yrs ago. I still do my own minor repairs, So doing my brush up studying for this first bottom drop. Thank for taking the time out your day to respond

Agree with 2thpic, usually they made it through the bottom.
