Default poor gas mileage

Hello guys
I got my tie rods and boots replaced, thanks for the advise. Now, my next problem. My car gets poor gas mileage, about 22 mpg combined driving. (1984 Honda accord hatchback) I feel it should get better than this. The car is running well, and I have recently tuned the car up, plugs, wires, filters, etc. The car is smooth on acceleration, and idle is pretty good. The fuel burning does not "smell" too rich. Does anyone have suggestion as to what could be the problem? Thanks

did you get your wheel alighnment after the tie rod boot replaced or when was the last alighnment? tire pressure at 35psi, and is the carb mixture adjusted to 14-1 air to fuel.

using additives is a good first step to clean your system out

Thanks for your answer guys. I've used fuel additives to clean system, aligned the car, but I don't know about the fuel ratio one of you mentioned. I'm afraid I'm not that advanced. How could I check this?

Find some numbers on the carb somewhere and contact Honda they will tell you what carbs you have. Once you know exactly which carb you have you can research online for the manuals for properly adjusting and setting idle for this particular model.
I would guess it is running to rich.Good luck,Bobby
