Default a question about my radiator

Hi All! I'm new here and I hope I'm doing this right. So I have a question about overheating problems on my honda accord lx 98. I'll try to explain every detail.

So I was driving from San Diego to Los Angeles yesterday. I was using the A/C on and off. it wasn't a particularly super hot day but worthy of having the A/C on at times. So my car's temperature gauge would go almost all the way up, and then the fan was able to bring it down almost half way. Like I mentioned, when it was really high I would turn off the A/C, but it got to a point that even with the A/C off it just stayed really hot. I got home and I noticed that the the liquid inside the plastic reservoir on the side of the radiator was boiling, to the point of steaming out and running out of it, this happened last year to me too. I don't see any other leaks, so I would like to know if anybody has any suggestions to fix this? Is it really the reservoir? I'm sure I close it tight, it loses a lot of water/coolant, last time I had to put a whole gallon of 50/50. Plese let me know what you think could be happening, maybe the thermostat? or maybe I'm not seeing all the possible spots for leaks? I don't see any other leak on the hoses from above an bottom. Please let me know if this has happened to any of you.

Thank you all very much!
