Default 1993 Honda Civic Starting Problem

Hey guys,

I drive a 1993 Honda Civic Coupe EX, it's been having an issue with starting up; whenever I attempt to turn it on during a cold start it starts right up. During the day whenever I'd make stops i would have to pray that it starts. Whenever I turn the key the check engine light comes on and then off and when I ignite it; it starts making a constant clicking noise. I took it to autozone to get it checked out and the battery, starter, alternator, etc is all fine. The guy said that it may be a connection issue so I cleaned all the connections but it still does it. This issue mainly occurs when it's super hot outside, not sure if that plays a roll. Thanks in advance for your help!

Possibly has worn starter contacts in the solenoid. It will cause intermittant starting like you describe. AS long as s ong as your batteruy is good and teh connections are tight and clean, it most likely is a starter failure.

Does the engine turn over when the clicking noise occurs?

It's got to be a starter relay or ignition switch.

I just asked a friend of mine who works for DSRLeasing but is a great honda fan and he said that it's pretty common problem and it's usually ignition switch. Hope it helps
