Default Civic Si, 1990; identity of parts on the engine.

Hi,

This photo illustrates the rear side of the engine in a Civic Si,
1990. The intake manifold has been removed and the red gasket remains
on the head. The connection for the oil filter is in the lower left.

Will someone please explain two parts which I haven't yet found in the
Haynes manual.

(1) The steel tube, about 2 cm diameter, running across the block
above the oil filter connection.

(2) The object on the right side of the oil filter connection.
Approximately square shaped with round corners and a rubber surface.

Thanks, ... Peter E.

In Haynes manual 42023, _Honda Civic '84 thru '91_, page 3-4, illustration "3.10 Thermostat and associated
components - exploded view" the steel tube is part "7 Water pump inlet pipe".

(2) The object on the right side of the oil filter connection.
Approximately square shaped with round corners and a rubber surface.
That part still baffles me. A cover of a breather or vent? In the photo referenced in my original post, it is below the inlet tube and right of the oil filter connection.

Regards, ... Peter E.
