Default Gas Fumes Coming From Left Rear of '01 Civic

I've been smelling a LOT of gas fumes coming from below my '01 Civic , near area of left rear tire. I see no evidence of fuel leak from tank or hoses. I also have both P1456 and P1457 codes stored in my PCM/ECU. Had a check engine light last week but it's gone now. I'm thinking of replacing the entire EVAP Canister, control valves, and filter just because the car is 15 years old and has 422,000 miles on it. This will cost about $300 in parts....about half of what a dealer may charge me to replace any ONE of these parts after troubleshooting time and other shop costs. Alternatively, maybe I should just buy a new Accord and put my 'o1 Civic out of its misery.

have you checked the hose connection from the fill to the tank, 15 yrs can cause cracks the eye cannot see.

Thanks for the suggestion. I will do that and may just replace it to be sure over Christmas holidays. Probably hard to check/see short of lighting a match down there.

While you are under the car. Look for obvious leaks. Fuel lines.

There is a leak somewhere. Check your fuel pump.
