Welcome to the forum,I would first consider changing the cabin filter, that would help is stopping incoming fumes.

Replying to old post, but just HAVE to say that cabin air filter will not stop fumes from entering cabin, and certainly not fix the reason why fumes are available to enter the cabin in the first place. Cabin filters are just for filtering dust and grime from incoming air..that's ALL. Cabin filter acts just like engine intake filter.

although your rite about preventing exhaust fumes from entering the cabin some cabin filters use activated charcoal which does absorb odors. also if it wasn't the injector or manifold it could have been an exhaust leak under the car.

Same thing happened to my ride. Turned out to be an exhaust manifold leak.
