Default intake

I'm new to honda, i jus got a 97 civic LX 4 door, i was wonderin if there was some sort of special intake system I could get because the throttle body is directly under the air filter, wouldn't this require some kind of adapter?

go to ebay.com. type in 97 civic intake, and it will show you all the intake for your vehicle. Be aware if you live in an area that has floods or big dips where water will run like in the desert, don't put on a long intake that goes close to the ground. it will suck up water and hydro lock your engine.(happens in Calif in the desert with many dips for water run off.)

dont listen to acmech52 he doesnt know what hes talking about. If you want a CAI (cold air intake) then get one. And if you do have lots of rain all the time just get a bypass valve for it. The bypass valve connects the short tube to the longer tube that runs down to your front bumper 2gether. True a bypass valve robs hp/tq but if it doesnt rain or mud puddles everywhere in the world then you dont need a bypass valve. CAI is better. And only way its going to hydrolock even if u didnt have a bypass valve is if u went in like in 2ft water or more.

Ref: www.valvoline.com Performance tips and tricks. "How they Work There are potential problems, however, that should not be ignored.......... Ingesting too much water into the engine can cause it to internally "Hydraulic" in which pistons and valves are bent and damaged under the pressure of compressed water. www.autoanything.com/air-intakes/50A5A115A2.aspx page 2 A cold air style intake system may not be available for your vehicle. ( 3ed dot note. ) If you drive through high water frequently, a cold air intake could potentially damage your engine by sucking water into the combustion chamber. In this case, pick a standard performance air intake.
4doorcivic9, I just wanted to assure 97-civic to havea heads up so he would not ever loose his engine to a misinformation, I apologize if I did not know what I was talking about.

dude i know all that. Thats why i did say get a bypass valve. That filters water/all the bad crap getting sucked from the intake into the manifold out. But trust me, I have a CAI and have been in a huge puddle of water (up to my front bumper) and had no problem since I had that bypass valve.
