Poor Gas Milage! HELP!
Okay I have a 97' CX auto civic with 180,000 Miles on it with nothing but a cold air intake on it. At the moment it gets 13 Miles to the gallon. I was wondering if this is normal for this cars age (with the Cold air intake) if not what can I do about it?
well i dont think its the mileage thats decreasing ur gas mileage. well i have a 1996 accord lx with 194,000 and i know i get more gas milage then 13. Here, try this. put a bottle of fuel injection clear, gas treatment, and maybe even try an octane booster. I usually put these in my gas tank very time i fill up. It seems to work well. something i also do, but im not sure if it helps gas mileage but u use synthetic oil when i do my oil changes.
you might have to change the fluids of your car, do a flushing of the transmission.
i'm no mechanic, but those helped my car to run better.
or maybe you're driving your car too hard (maybe you like the rumbling sound too much
)
if symptoms persist... you can just sell it to me

the civic cx with a 1.5 engine should be giving you approx 30+ mpg, check to see if your airfilter is clean, may need a minor tune up. spark plugs, plug wires, check timing, fuel filter, fuel pressure for injectors ( I beleive its fuel injection ) do a compression check to see if all the cylinders are approx the same.( don't know how high the pressure should be off hand.)
chink_with_cane I don't see how civicstein can benefit from your advice nor , or make much sense of Garfields cartoons to fix his car. Perhaps if you had cartoons with pictures that showed items to look at to fix a problem, it would make you a winner and we can look up to you as a Honda guru.
