Problem with my 98 Honda Accord
I recently bought a 98 accord and everything seems to be running good and it drives well and seems to be kept up with, but I’ve come across 2 minor (I hope) issues:
1) sometimes the vehicle will just die while I’m driving. First time it happened, I had the cruise control on and it took 3-4 tries to start back up when I pulled off to the side of the highway. Fast forward about a week later and it did it twice in the same day in a parking lot and when I was slowing down for a yield sign. I’ve been told it could be the battery, an issue with the fuel pump etc, but I’m not sure which one it is.
2) when accelerating from a stop, the vehicle burns oil.
How do I go about fixing that?
and how do I go about diagnosing what the issue is with the car dying while driving?
Thanks in advance

yeah it’s like you turn the car off it just suddenly stops running. First time on the highway I was going 65 and last 2 times I was going about 10

If the engine burns oil then it is probably mechanical
Thicker oil or an aftermarket additive might help for now
But, it is usually cause by worn rings or cylinder
As for the engine stalling while driving, can be caused by so many things
Should put a code reader on it and see if there are any codes stored or pending
Then , when it does stall, be ready to check for spark, injector pulse
When the key is first turned to the on position, listen for the fuel pump to prime fuel rail
The pump should make noise for about two seconds or so.
