So my lower unit went out. Had a gear lose a tooth.. anyways it’s a 2008 225 30” shaft and I have a hard time finding that year used to replace. Shops say the forward gears are discontinued as well so they suggest me to find a used unit or buy new. Before I bite that bullet I want to at least try to exhaust other avenues first.



To my understanding there is different size shift shaft splines in the older models. Fat/skinny



I did find a 2002 30” and the big question is can I switch the shift shaft off my unit into the 2002 unit. Will it fit? TIA
