Default Honda Civic ep3 type r cold start up noise

Hi all
I’ve bought a type r ep3 civic a few months ago.
great car and I’m loving it. Car has only 78k on it with full service history.
noise at cold start, only happens when the car has sat overnight and the noise only lasts about 1/2 seconds when the car is cold.
I’ve replaced the starter motor car also just after a full service and it’s still there
I’ve also took the vtec solenoid out and cleaned it.
any suggestions?
Will try attach a video below.
many thanks
nathan

that sounds like the starter gear is hanging . . (it is not the valve adjust for sure).

It does sound like the starter motor is hanging up in gear
Problem is that the starter motor was changed
So there is another issue here.

Whenever I hear about noise at start up, I think about the timing chain guides.
I have never been right about it. So, Idk.

Default Cold start up

Thanks for your input guys

its very strange , do use think there could be a problem with new starter motor I bought?

Previous owner had the aux belt done but didn’t do the tensioner etc..
Someone mentioned to me about the timing chain or tensioner but I’m not hearing any ticking at idle when I first start the car.

i had the gearbox refurbed last week Thats also when the starter was replaced. It has a lightweight flywheel and all the teeth on it where also fine.

I’ll get the misses to start the car at the weekend with me under the hood to see if I can find where the noise is coming from.

Oh, that could be ... the bearings in the tensioner make noise on start up first thing??
Would need someone else to start engine while near pulley to listen for noise??
