SAFETY Problem--Electrical/Computer System Meltdown on 2023 Accord Hybrid
Hi,
I'm afraid to drive my brand new 2023 Honda Accord Hybrid LE, because the onboard computer/electric system melted down temporarily for a few hours. Here's what happened:
On Wednesday, when I started the car after parking at a store, I couldn't get it out of park. Many warning lights showed up, saying that there was an electric system malfunction and that many functions were disabled, and said to contact my dealer immediately. I called the dealer, but no one was available. I turned off the car, waited 20", and tried again.
This time, I could get it out of park and drive 2 miles to someplace safer. But many warning lights remained, telling me that assisted steering wouldn't work, the tire calibration was off, the braking system wouldn't be as effective, etc., and that I should contact the dealer.
I turned it off, waited 20", and this time only the engine light came on. I turned it off, waited another 20" and this time, no warning lights came on. The dealer's service dept then called back and told me that there was nothing they could do unless there were warning lights. The car has been fine for the last 2 days.
However, I'm scared that at some point, the onboard computer/electric system will freeze up again at a time when it's inconvenient, or worse, will cause an accident. How do I get the dealer's attention on this? I assume that since the car has an onboard computer, it will have a record of what happened. Or the service department will be able to diagnose the problem electronically.
Has anyone else had this problem?
Thanks,
John
