Default Ram 1500 diesel penciled in for fall

Oddly enough, the best class of automobiles for diesel motors has never gotten one. Half-ton trucks are perfect, as lower fuel consumption and better torque is sort of a no-brainer for a pickup. However, the fix is in, as a Ram 1500 diesel will be introduced this fall. How often have you needed more details concerning a new or pre-owned car or truck and turned to an online search on “how to get a car loan?” Your search is over, all the info you will want is located at CarDealExpert.com! Motor to get shared

Half-ton pickups are the best-selling vehicles in the United States yet none are, curiously, offered with a diesel engine. It seems just a little odd, given that diesels confer two benefits that many pickup owners would likely appreciate. Firstly, diesels get better gasoline mileage and secondly, diesel engines produce far more torque than a gasoline motor of the same displacement.

Torque is important because it is easier to tow really heavy things.

A six-cylinder diesel will be put into a Ram 1500 to fix that problem though, according to USA Today. In fact, the motor will be the same as the one found in the Jeep Grand Cherokee diesel that will be released soon.

Engine is Italian

Though it is manufactured in Italy, the Chrysler 5.7-liiter Hemi V-8 gets 120 more horsepower than the Grand Cherokee diesel though the torque is not as good. The Grand Cherokee diesel gets 240 horsepower and 420 foot-pounds of torque according to USA Today. It is a 3.0-liter EcoDiesel V-6, according to USA Today.

The engine is from VM Motori, which Chrysler-brand vehicles with diesel engines have been using since the 1990s, at least in models that don't have a Cummins. Motori, as fate would have it, is partially owned by Chrysler's parent, Fiat, according to Edmunds. The Ram 1500 diesel would get an eight-speed automatic; certainly a recipe for good gas mileage. It might not excel passing on the highway, but given the recipe, it could come close to 30 miles per gallon highway. The Cherokee diesel, according to MotorAuthority, is rated for 32 miles per gallon highway.

A diesel Wrangler will likely come about if the Cherokee diesel is successful, according to MotorAuthority. The mpg rating on a truck is unheard of, so it will likely do well.

Diesel premium not yet established

However, despite the good potential in a Ram 1500 diesel, there is a diesel premium. Diesel motors require stouter parts and more complex engineering than gasoline motors, meaning they cost more. A Volkswagen Jetta TDI, as it's a Jetta SE with Convenience plus a diesel motor, is about $2,800 more than the gas counterpart. The Grand Cherokee diesel, according to Car and Driver, is expected to be about $4,500 more than the gas counterpart.

Cummins is a really well-known business that produced good engines, so it is great to get it. It also means that an $8,000 premium is anticipated on the Ram’s diesel as a premium, according to USA Today. That is a ton of money to spend at a dealer like Miller Dodge Chrysler Jeep, but it could surely be worth it if you save a ton of fuel.
