Default 2020 Pilot Touring

August 25, 2020

I purchased a new 2020 Honda Pilot Touring in June. At 1500 miles, loud popping and cracking sounds started in windshield or dash, not sure which. .According to everything I
have read, this problem has been around for a long time and there isn't a fix. Crazy!!!. Have appointment at dealership tomorrow.

Default Me too

Bought a 2021 Pilot Elite in September. Drove cross country and at 5K miles started having this same problem. Driving again and it’s really bad. Haven’t gone to dealer yet due to pandemic but plan to. Pretty frustrating.

Purchased a 2021 Honda Pilot Elite 9/20 and after 2 months I starting hearing the popping noise. It started after the info screen went completely blank. Took it to the dealership told them the issue, mentioned the popping noise, but they said they couldn’t find a problem. I am glad I found this thread as this seems to be a common problem.

My 2019 Pilot had the random popping noise. The dealer performed the fix (new software and checked all related connectors) several months ago. It has never popped again. Total fix.

We took to a large TX dealer while out of town and they kept for three days. They said they’ve fixed this issue many times, and they “replaced affected FAKRA connectors and installed the most service cords to the gauge control module”. The parts were “39817-TJB-AC0 SB20-049, 39165-TG7-ACO, and 39165-TG7-BDO”. Verbally they told me they replace all connectors as the ones Honda used were not good.
I would call several dealers and ask them how many times they have corrected the popping problem. We have only driven 800 miles since the fix but have not had any issues yet. I am not declaring victory until we have driven more and used all components of car (eg air conditioner in hot weather), but so far so good....

Default Static from radio

I have a 2019 Pilot touring. Static occurs when radio is turned down. Constant popping. Went to the dealer multiple times and they were no help. I have videos of the constant popping and it's really getting to me and my wife. We cannot drive this vehicle in silence without hearing this static. Very disappointed with Honda of America .

I have a 2019 Honda Pilot Black Edition and experienced the exact same issue you have described and it turns out it is not uncommon. Honda is aware of the issue but have not released any communication to fix the problem. My fix was to replace the MOST connector (not sure if this is an acronym but it’s what the dealership called it). However just replacing the MOST connector isn’t enough, they purchased a special crimping tool to help secure the connection. The service manager was researching the issue when he discovered a dealership in the States was using this crimping tool and they decided to try the same thing. So far it has worked. The name of my dealership is West City Honda in Belleville, ON, Canada if you would like to call them to get more info. Ask to speak with Bill the service manager.
