The rt rear axle is making a rattling noise, it is intermittent. It is more prevalent when turning left.
I grabbed the shaft and wiggled it to check for play, it will slide side to side about an inch.
The left shaft has the same type of play, but not as much, maybe 1/2" inch or so. One boot is split
on the right side as well. The mileage is 244K

I am assuming I need 2 new axles. Do they just bolt in or do they need to be pressed onto
the bearing.

 

normally they are pushed into place with hand, or tapped in with a soft aluminum or wood dowel on the edge. if you can get hold of a service manual or a u tube diy. it may show you how it is done.
