Default Trailer hitch for 2023 CRV Sport Touring Hybrid

If you've installed a trailer hitch for this model, please give make and part number. Thanks.

Default Research

I have installed many hitches and base plates on different types of vehicles for many purposes. Your ‘23 Sport Hybrid is different because of it’s electronic feature(s). My go to place for specific info is e-trailer.

My ‘22 has a towing rating of 0 lbs however your ‘23 redesign (Gen 6) has a 1/2 ton rating. So it could be used for a light pop-up, motorcycle, mobility scooter, cargo box or a bike rack. Not much but better than my nothing.

Looking at the e-trailer info it is easy to see that the aftermarket hitches are not recommend for CR-V’s with the hands free tailgate sensor as they will completely or mostly obstruct the sensor.

Sooo, that leaves you with the OEM hitch that has two options. 1. A proper wiring harness and 2. An HFA adapter.

Also notable is that all brands require cutting the body trim.

Everything you need to know, including all three part numbers, can be found here:

YMMV

Obviously not a CR-V but this is an example of the level of disassembly you will encounter installing the hitch assembly.
