Default Transmission Slipping 03

When my 2003 CRV heats up it is having trouble shifting down into 2nd and 1st gear. It often jerks when coming down into those gears, especially down into 1st.
Took it to the Honda dealership and they tested everything and said gears are slipping and the tran is going out and quoted me a replacement for a used one. I asked about doing a T-Tech fluid replacement where they replace all of the trans fluid but they said replacing the fluid after it starts slipping is actually worse than leaving the old in and that if I did that, I would drive out of their parking lot and it would be just as bad.
Does anyone know if this is true?
I put a bottle of Lucas Transmission Fix in the car today and it actually got a little better. If the guy is right, I may just put another bottle of Lucas in and see how good I can get it for the time being.

welcome to the forum you might look into a good used trans from a good salvage yard, or low milage trans from a Japan Engine and Trans shop. or talk to a transmission shop that does Honda Vehicles. call, look up ratings for the shop, talk to friends who have had their Honda trans done. adding fluids other than Honda trans fluids only is a temp fix. Honda makes a special blend trans fluid only for their Honda's. anything else added does not last.
