More Luxurious Ride for 09 Fit
Hey hey! I love my '09 Fit. It's nimble, it's sporty, and it hauls a lot of stuff, and it's good on gas.
The only worst part is the suspension is not so nice.
It is just a very bumpy, jarring ride over the roads. Especially any bumps, I really feel them (too much).
It is a ten year old car, with 170,000 miles.
Is there a good solution?
How could I make my 09 Fit have a much smoother ride?
(Without spending too much - let's say $1000 limit max, but hopefully more like $500 USD or less if possible)

Also there is something wrong with the suspension after hitting a pothole I think.
It's making a jangly, wobbly sound on the left side going over bumps.
I will take it to the suspension repair place.
They say they use Monroe or Moog suspension parts.
Will just getting new shocks from one of these companies make it a much smoother ride??

welcome to the forum. shocks will help, but not much. larger tires with less air makes softer ride but will ware outside of tire faster. I have an 07 with 290k+ it has the original shocks and it is still stiff riding. most economy cars are stiff riding.

Tires make a big difference in ride comfort
And probably one of the best investments in an old car
Got to remember that a heavy car with soft coils make for a boat like ride
However, you vehicle is small. So, only superficial comfort is achievable.
Extra padding on the seats??

the fit is about 2600lbs, the coil springs are stiff for better suspension and handling, but changing shocks from an acura will not help much. the acura is a lot heavier vehicle. stronger shocks more stiff. changing the tension on the coil if possible would help a lot, but your handling will be mushy, will tilt more and sway more on turns and curved roads. larger tires with lower pressure may help.
