Default 07 honda accord tranny service

My car has 240,000 miles on it, and I got the car at 130,000 miles.

I mustve misread somewhere Or been told wrong by a shop to change transmission fluid every 20,000 because now when I look it up, it says 90,000 😳; Ive now done the fluid about 5x.

i thought it was about due again, so I took it in for a quote on that and a bunch of other maintenance, and the quote they gave me was high. When I asked why, they said because they drop the pan and change the filter/do the whole thing and not just the fluid. I have been told by multiple maintenance shops now that the filter wasnt changeable, and the fluid was the only thing to do so thought I was doing everything like I was suppose to.

when i look up the honda maintenance schedule, it says to change the fluid at 90,000 but doesnt mention the filter.

1. how often should filter be changed?
2. If its 90,000 miles, and I last changed fluid about 20,000 miles ago, but the filter hasnt been changed in at least 110,000 miles (but Probably last changed around 90,000 miles on engine-so 150k miles ago), should I go ahead and do the change now even though its not due, so that the filter Can be done, so that I’m caught up with where I’m suppose to be?

the last thing I wanna do is mess with a Hondas transmission, I know they have been known to go out early which is why ive been so on top of the changes and now im worried that i havent Ever changed the filter! But maybe this shop is just trying to get money out of me and its not suppose to be changed, like the other meChanics have said?

owners manual states each 30k miles change the fluid. the transmission needs to be disassembled to change the filter so, no transmission filter change. use Honda transmission fluid only, no aftermarket fluid or you will have a transmission overhaul. ( my 07 Fit has 295k change fluid each year).

where did you find in manual the mileage, because mine just states (in the maintenance section), all about the maintenance minder system, and nothing about mileage which is annoying as in 6 years my maintenance minder has never went off.

i only use honda fluid.

according to a bunch of youtube videos, the filter is external, and is located under the air box next to the engine, not in the transmission. (2007 honda accord, 2.4L)

When replacing the tranny fluid every 30k miles, it is just a drain and fill.
Doing this regular should help prevent having to do the major tranny fluid and filter change.

but at 240,000k now, should filter be changed? Does changing fluid regularly somehow negate ever changing filter for entire life of car?

You might find a trusted honda transmission overhaul shop about the change of the filter. i read it as the transmission needs to be disassembled to replace the filter, to me is a overhaul since it is being disassembled. i have seen honda accords go to 500k with proper oil change and normal maintenance, no transmission overhaul.

the filter is located underneath the air box, External of transmission, held in by a clamp; once the air intake box is removed it is right on top of everything else . Not requiring transmission overhaul. If that were the case i wouldnt be considering replacing the filter, but since it is relatively easy, why not?

At 240k, would definitely consider changing the tranny filter
