Default 02 sensor question

I've had some trouble with the check engine light 02 sensor bank one in the past 3-4 months. To fix the problem a couple months back i bought an aftermarket bosch 02 sensor. it's been working fine here and there but the check engine light keeps coming on every 3-4 weeks. I went to rusty wallis honda and was told that on parts like the thermostats and 02 sensor you have to replace it with a stock 02 sensor. is this true or are they just trying to shaft me out of my money?

I'm not so sure on this budd, but I think problems like this, just needs some minor fixing. Have you consulted your honda parts manual? Maybe you could muster some tips from it, at least you would'nt be wasting your money on unecessary buying of auto parts if it still could be repaired...Anyway, let me know about its development.Good luck!...

what it looks like bro is that your ecu might have a problem internaly somewhere.. becaue usualy when you 02 sensor check lite comes up on your dash it either stays there or doesnt come up at all.. if it shows up randomly that means 1. your timing may need adjustment for tdc. 2. your slowly lossing compression in your head and running lean until you start driving. 3. your fuel management (ecu) is going bad being unable to keep controle of you air/fuel mixture. so if you replaced your 02 then jump to the next step and check if you are running retarded on your timing. then see if you havnt lost compression in your pistons.. if all comes down to it check your ecu and replace it.. but if you wanna be safe go ahed and reset your ecu by 1. disconnecting he positive on your battery and turning you ignition switch on an keep it on ON position for 20 sec or look under your hood and check to see where your fuse box is and unplug the ecu fuse and let it unpluged for a min or two and plug it back in and turn you vehicle back on.. if it still brings up the lite you might have a problem with you ecu.. good luck.

Nice. I run the EMS on my '94 turbo Miata. It's an awesum system. If you ever need a hand with some of the setup hit me up.
