Need Help with 2001 Maintenance
I have a 2001 Honda Civic with 154,000 miles. I brought a brand new engine from honda less than 2 years ago and replace the transmission with a used one about a year ago that had approx 40,000 miles on it.
My question is:
I am unsure about the maintenance that I need to do. Since I have replaced the engine and transmission, what are the other major parts that I should have checked out to ensure that my civic last. Like any fluids flushed? Or belts replaced?
I have also recently replaced...
The front struts
Lower control arm bushing
Front/Rear brakes & Tires
We asked honda to do a full diagnostic on the car and they said it would be $150. Even though that would applied to any work done, it would keep me bound to getting the work done there. I dont mind paying for the work but I dont want to be ripped off.
Any suggestions? Thanks!

welcome to the forum. Suggest you get a factory service manul. ebay does sell them. most of the work you can handle yourself. Transmission drain and flush each 3 years or 30k miles using honda trans fluid only. if driven a lot, once a year will not hurt. clean out your idle cut off vlv, throttle vave control. flush radiator each 2 years. cabin filter ea 30k miles. if you go to the honda site, it does have a schedule maintenance you can follow. Also the owners manual has a schedule maintenance sheet.

Hi !
If you diden't change the coolant every 3-4 years, it would a good ideea to change the radiator to. Some times, due to poor coolant quality and iregular changing intervals some elements of the radiator can be filled with a thik smuge.
Hope this info helps.
