New guy here, had the exact same problem with my 09 met. New carb, spark plug, fuel pump etc. would not start even with fluid. Ended up having a stuck intake valve I only found after doing a leak down test. Fixed the faulty valve, and it fired right up. Not sure if you’re having the same experience, but worth having a look.
