Honda Battery Warranty issue
Hi
I am new to the forum. I have 2 Honda CRV bought New, LX 2006 and EX 2012.
On 2006 CRV I replaced Honda battery in November 2012, paying $104.81 from Honda Dealer, it had a 36 months free replacement and 100 month prorata warranty.
Now in July 2017 battery again went bad. I replaced again Honda Battery at honda dealer and paid $105.52, which per dealer is prorata price after using 55.5 months out of 100 months warranty. Per dealer new battery is priced $157. Per dealer since I paid prorata price not the full price, new warranty of 100 month will not kick in. And it will honor only existing warranty of 100 month expiring March 2021. ( not Nov 2025 as 100 months from now).
This is incorrect. I bought tires with 90,000 miles on the same car which I need to replace after using 50,000 mile. Discount Tire charged me prorata price, giving credit of 40,000 unused miles, and reset the warranty to 90,000.
I am expecting same thing from Honda on battery, but the dealer as well customer service, American Honda is not agreeing to.
Any advise from Seniors.
Thank you for your time.

What the Dealer and American Honda Customer assistance told you IS correct per Warranty guidelines. If the warranty pays .01 or more to cover a failed battery, (even a prorated percentage) it only maintains the original battery warranty you paid for. Sometimes it just doesnt make any sense to have warranty cover a small percentage of the original warranty.
Its NOT like a tire warranty at all. Honda refers all Tire warranty issues to the Tire manufacturer. (Honda did'nt make or design the original Tires... Thats why there was a separate tire warranty booklet with the owners manual when you bought the car new )
