Default 05 Honda Pilot Timing Belt Change Questions

Hi, folks. I have a 2005 Honda Pilot, with about 93,000 miles. It was my parents, runs great, just had to replace alternator and battery though in the last 90 days. My question is Timing Belt. I believe in the 7 year itch, was last changed at 56,000 miles, in 2012. I am going to have it changed on February 18th.
I understand that timing belt/water pump go hand in hand. What about changing the hoses? I am planning to have mechanic change upper and lower hoses as well, and what do you folks think about the head gasket? Does that need to be looked at and possibly changed as well?

I am going to pay about $1200 for the service, cheaper than the dealer, trusted mechanic. Appreciate any input, thanks. And any other things I should have mechanic look at?

my mechanic on my 02 civic when it came to changing the timing belt said, since you are already in the area of the following, change them all and not have to worry until the next belt change. timing belt, tensioner, water pump, crank seal, cam seal, anti freeze, oil and filter. purchase Honda only parts. have him check trans fluid for possible change. your parents pilot will last a long, long time .

According to My 2007 Pilot EXs Maintenance Minder I had the timing belt replaced at 103,495 mi. Looking at various places on line and differing model year MM manual intervals I've found the timing belt intervals can run from 30,000 to 105,000 depending on conditional use and model year, same belt and parts.

The other concerting information is the second belt interval can be from 45,000 to 105,000 under normal conditions. This service writer confirmed the across the board interval is 105,000 mi despite MM confusion.

My Pilot is having it done as I write at 150,231mi. During its last A1 oil change they noticed oil leaking from the belt cover onto the top of the filter cartridge casting which is usually and indication of an oil pump issue which is behind the timing belt. To be certain I cleaned the entire engine and compartment with S1 cleaner. After two days I found a drop of oil coming from the belt cover onto the casting, so.

As acmech points out there are other components worth replacing while they have the area open depending on your keeping the vehicle. After test driving the sluggish 2018 Pilot I'm going full boat dealer repair and happily keeping the 07. Timing and accessory belts, tensioners and idlers, oil and water pumps, seals, oil and filter, transmission and power steering fluid changes, $2400 est.
