Advice on buying a prelude
A friend of mine has a 1991 prelude that i was looking to buy, it has about 175k miles on it, and as far as i know its stock it has the 2.0SI engine, manual transmission, and fairly clean interior with after market stereo and speakers i was just curious on what kind of gas milage preludes get and how much you would expect to pay for one

RE: Advice on buying a prelude
good deal, thanks for the info, also another couple of quick questions, is there any thing that is pretty basic to go wrong with preludes, since it has so many miles on it i was thinking about giving it a serious maintanance work over (timing water pump, tensoner, plugs, cap rotor, blah blah blah) but is there any thing extra that i should be looking to replace while im at it?

When changing the timimg belt if needed, replace the crank and cam seals also. Items I have been told to watch for are the rear wheel bearings, cv's and boots, steering bushings, dead shocks, all rubber hoses, brake hoses. Just do a general condition check, belts etc.Might want to do a compression check.

I need some advice.

also is there any simple modifications i can do to get better gas milage out of it, because if i buy this 91 prelude it will probably be a daily driver, and id like a fun cheap car to drive, i dont really care about making it go faster, simply because im not going to use it for performance

RE: Advice on buying a prelude
aloha ketsueki: the prelude is Honda's hotrod, milage is not quite what you will be looking for from a hot rod, a civic 5 spd gets better gas milage. But in answer to your better milage, taller tire ( watch speedometer reading, it will be different) polish the car well, intake, exhaust will give you more hp to step less on the gas pedal, coast in neutural when you can.
