Default OIL change

I have new 2020 Ridgeline , usually have my First oil change on my other vehicle around 2,000 miles .I don't have a lot miles on my truck, I brought the truck to my dealer to have oil change with 2100 miles on ii. He told me that the Honda does not recommend you change YOUR oil First oil change Until the OIL light comes on Because the Manufacture They state the OIL has special additives that were install when was built and needed to Help the Engine during BREAK IN . They told me to come in when the Light comes on and then get the first OIL change

Im going in this week to get my FIRST INSPECTION and my OIL light hasn't come on as of Yet I have 3300 miles on the truck now?

I always had changed my oils for years around 2500 miles weather I needed it or not

welcome to the forum. allow the dealership to do the inspection, no oil change until the oil light goes on. you can see your percentage on the dash when selecting a trip, or b trip, or milage, oil life %. it took me a while to get used to oil life, i got about 7500 miles on oil and filter changes. do not worry. the newer oils now are made to last 13,500 miles. some longer. lots of technology has been accomplished in the newer oils. i used to change my oil and filter until I purchased the new car, and i did it every 3k miles oil and filter. ( old days ) as long as you do as Honda says, warranty is good.

Oils have gotten soo much better over the years. I used to do 3,000 mile OCI's back in the 80's with conventional motor oils, but now I'm at 5,000 for my vehicle that doesn't have a MID, and for my Turbo engine Acura I've just religiously followed the MID. I don't own a RL yet, still on the sidelines waiting for RTL-E availability/pricing to normalize, as well as water intrusion issue to, be resolved, but I assume it has the same type of MID as my 11 year old Acura. Where I've deviated from the MID is that I replace my oil filter with every oil change, vs. recommended every other and I do the ATF drain & fill every 15k which is well ahead of the MID. My Acura requires Full Synthetic Mobil 1 (HTO-6), which is only about $3-4 more than conventional for 5 qts. when purchased from Wallly Mart. I use Mobil 1 for my other vehicle even though a full synthetic isn't required and my OCI on that is every 5k. If you have a MID just follow it - you'll be fine.

When I bought my first new car back in 1987, I changed the oil after 500 miles.
Guess today's engine and oils are different??
Still, I do not like to go past 5000 miles between oil changes.
But, that is just me??

From the Honda official website:
If the message ‘‘Maintenance Due Now’’ does not appear more than 12 months after the display is reset, change the engine oil every year.
If your car bought at the end of 2020, you should change oil.

Hi guys! I also change the oil every 500 miles, as per the manual, I also use Best Oil Additives for Diesel Engines https://casperoilchange.com/oil-addi...iesel-engines/ that lower the engine temperature and increase the oil pressure, I recently found out about this, as for me a good thing
