Engine oil leak from block's halves
Hello,
I took my 2013 CR-V to the dealership for an inspection. The other day I noticed oil spots in my garage.
Upon inspection, I was told the leak was coming from the engine block"s halves. In order to repair it, the engine block would need to be taken down and resealed, replace oil, filter and coolant.
Unfortunately the cost to do this is pretty expensive. The dealership wants about $3,800. Does this sound right? The car only has 106k miles, and I have always taken care of the maintenance. Really shocked that a Honda would have this problem...
Thanks!

welcome to the forum. the dealership is telling you that the engine needs a top overhaul. they will take the head off, mill the head, replace the gasket, grind the valves and seats, and put it all back together. you might look into a shop that may try to torque your head bolts lesser cost, if it continues to leak then either do a top overhaul or get a good used engine from ebay, salvage yard, and have a shop remove an replace the whole engine for 5-600.00 good low milage engine cost about 600-750.00 call around and get price on re torque of the head bolts, or live with the oil leak, or change out the engine. ( suggestions ) dealerships are not cheap, they do good work to last a long time, with lots of overhead.
