Question Question on cancelling HondaCare on CRV totaled

My daughter and her car were on our policy at the time her car was in an accident and deemed a total loss. Honda Finance told us that we had to go through the dealership we bought the car from to fill out a cancel request to cancel the extended service contract with HondaCare and include a total loss letter for proof. The accident was 10/12/25. Progressive gave us the total loss letter on 10/27/25 and we went in on 10/31/25 to the dealership and filled out the cancel request form and gave them that and the copy of the total loss letter. The lady up front at reception said the finance guy was busy but she would give the paperwork to him to submit and that it could take 4-8 weeks to cancel. I know its only been 4.5 weeks, but this dealership is known to have a bad rep about cancelling things because they don't want to lose commission. Is there a way for us to find out if they actually submitted the paperwork to HondaCare? Sure I could call the dealership, but even if they haven't submitted anything, they can easily say they did and I still have no proof they did. Can I contact HondaCare to ask if they've received our cancellation request from the dealership yet or would they even know? Insurance and Honda finance had me on a three way call when it was deemed total loss and the honda finance rep who told me we had to cancel through the dealership said my daughter would get a refund of just over 1k for canceling the hondacare being her car was a 2024 crv with only 47k miles on it at the time of loss. She needs to shop for another car, but could really use the refund money to use to put as a down payment because I will not be cosigning for her this time. agreement was I cosign one time only, after that, they are on their own.
